Thank you to everyone who made a purchase and to everyone who commented! It means a lot to me. It was also nice to move to New Jersey without quite so many dolls. :)
The Virtual Garage Sale will now be used to sell most of the dolls I review. Each doll will be placed into the shop when their review goes live! The shop tab will appear at the top of the page when it is active again.
Wow, good luck with the move! Hopefully you are going somewhere warmer?? LOL, although if I remember correctly you live in Maine so probably anywhere else will be warmer :-). Good luck with selling your dolls, I remember when you reviewed Tonner Jess, and I actually bought her for myself shortly after that review! Will you be doing a new post each time you list new dolls or should we just keep checking back to this website? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Farrah! It's nice to hear from you. Lol...how true that pretty much anywhere would be warmer! I'm not so sure that's a good thing these days, though, given that the summer here in Maine was brutally hot this year. Yuck. Can't complain today, though. Maine falls are my favorite and I will miss them! :)
DeleteI won't do a new post for each new doll, no. I'll just keep updating the store. I hope to add a bunch more stuff today if the timing works out!
Ok great, thank you! :)
DeleteAh, too bad you are only selling collectible dolls. I was more curious about battered dolls, odd accessories, broken limbs - like things you get for your My Twinn restorations, but in fashion doll scales. Anyway, the listings look good so far, I hope the shop is working smoothly for you.
ReplyDeleteSorry BlackKitty! I'd love to see what sort of magic you would work with that kind of thing! I gave most of my de-boxed dolls and accessories away to the Goodwill. I can certainly let you know if I come across any bins with fashion doll bits and parts?
DeleteThat is very lovely of you, I'll keep an eye out for new additions anyway. Maybe it's a good thing for me, I'd have to use a mail forwarder to get things out of the USA and that's not a cheap pleasure...
DeleteGreat to hear from you again! Good luck on your move I know how stressful that can be since I just left for school, and that was just my room I can't imagine how it must be to have to move an entire house! Since you probably wont post on here again, I wanted to say thank you as you inspired me to start to collecting as a teenager after years of being told dolls were just for girls. You showed ANYONE could collect, and your blog really helped me through a lot of tough times.(puberty and coming out is a bitch what can I say). Unfortunately though I missed the Makies wagon lmao. I still see dolls and think about what you would have thought about them as a lot of the new releases these past few years have seemed right up your ally. I really do wish you the best with your collection, whether you never collect fashion dolls again, or start all over, I hopeyou figure out what makes you happy.
ReplyDeleteWith love, Patrick
Dearest Patrick, thank you so much for this wonderful note. I'm so glad that you found something in this blog that helped you embrace your love for dolls...and helped you through the bumpy path of embracing yourself.
DeleteI still look at new doll releases with a reviewer's eye, and a few of the products that have hit the market during the past year or so have *really* made me want to re-boot this site for a review or two! But now, with the move, I think all the remnants of TBP will have to go. It's sad, but also exciting to see what will come next.
It sounds like you have some exciting things coming next, too! I wish you all the best of luck at school (stay safe!!) and hope you will continue to collect and appreciate dolls for as long as they make you happy! Hugs from Emily.
Glad to hear from you! <3 Unfortunately I'm not in the USA, I'd like a Mixie Teens doll.
ReplyDeleteHi Viola! I'm sorry about international shipping. I just can't make flexible shipping prices work with the shop software I'm using. :(
DeleteGood luck with your move!! This is very cool.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Mora! Moving is freaky, but making a shop is fun. :)
DeleteOh this is so exciting! I can't wait to see what pops up in your shop.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the move. :)
Thanks Molly! :D I'm kind-of wondering what will show up in my shop, too! I keep finding bins that I'd forgotten about. It's embarrassing.
DeleteI have really missed your sense of humour and beautiful photos. I did check in on the My Twinn page. I hate moving! I haven't moved since 1995.I have far too many things to even think about it,so I can imagine your situation. Will you be selling,I think you called her Fidget,( She was sculpted by the lady who did the Only Hearts Club dolls.), or the Star Ace Hermione? (I can cope with the messed with feet and socks if it gets me a discount!)Feel free to leave me a comment on my blog (Planet of the Dolls),with your email address if you want to get hold of me. My comments don't publish unless I publish them.
ReplyDeleteHi Tam! Thank you for the nice message! :) I am getting pretty stressed about the move, that's for sure. I'll be glad when it's over!
DeleteFidget has a new home, but I still have Hermione. Fee free to message me through Etsy (https://www.etsy.com/shop/MyTwinnProjectShop) with an offer! I'm trying to sell most things--even lovely Hermione.
I haven't sold on Etsy for so long I don't remember what email or password I used! It won't let me contact you unless I can sign in. Please leave a comment on the blog so I can email you. Also, do you still have Savannah or Patience? I'm sure I can't afford Patience but I'm going to ask anyway!
DeleteSorry, Tam. I'm only seeing this today (crazy-busy) but I see that you found a way to get through Etsy's barriers! Thank you for doing that!! :)
DeleteI'm keeping my eyes peeled for when the 18" doll stuff shows up. XD
ReplyDeleteMy lovely lurkins, I don't have much 18" stuff anymore! :( Is there something specific you want? Let me know!!
Deletegolly, I don't know what you still have. I really shouldn't get any more dolls, but outfits and accessories take up less space. XDX do you still have the American Girl microscope set? it's probably beyond my price range (like almost everything American Girl.... lol), but I'd definitely be interested.
DeleteOh, or the Maplelea Saila doll, or her outfits. I'm huge Maplelea junkie, and their discontinued stuff (like the Toonik Time outfit) is impossible to come by. Or if you happen to have the brown-haired Collector's Lane mini doll, or the Our Generation mini May Lee. (I'm seriously doubting you still have any of this, but they're the things that come to mind...)
DeleteHi lurkins, I don't think I have ANY of those things! Wah! I still have a blonde Collector's Lane mini, and only one more American Girl doll (ack!). I'll dig around and see if I can come up with a more comprehensive 18" list. Can you message me through Etsy?
DeleteLurkins! I found the brown-haired mini doll, Elizabeth!! New in box. :-O
DeleteOh wow it's so great to hear from you again after all this time! I'm so glad to see an update even if it's just a notif for dolls you're selling. I never got a to say a proper goodbye when you ended things last year, so I want to take a moment to tell you how much this blog meant to me. I was 14 in 2012 when I first discovered your site, and I was still in the early years of my own doll collecting. I LOVED every in-depth review, and every time new dolls came out, I was always pumped with excitement to see them appear in a future review. When I did my collab with you on the W.I.T.C.H. dolls (in 2013, wow has it really been that long?) I was STOKED to appear on my favorite blogger's site and introduce you to my favorite dolls. W.I.T.C.H. dolls actually started my collection in 2011, and birthed my old flickr account so I could share them with the world. But now here we are, 8 whole years later, and a lot has changed. When I saw your final post that you were ending the blog and moving on, I honestly cried. I cried and cried really hard when I first read the post, and I was sad for a good couple of months before the sadness eventually faded away. Since this blog shaped my early teenage years so much, the end of the blog felt like the official end of those years. Glorious doll lines like MH, EAH and Liv are long gone, flickr's dead and all my friends are gone, and Winx, AG, and Disney Store just aren't like they used to be. It's hard to reach the end, but as my favorite inspirational quote goes, "The hardest part of ending is starting again." I'm now 22, and I recently cleared out most of my doll collection from those years. All of my Fashionistas are gone, I sold off all of the Jakks Pacific Winx, and I cleared out a lot of space in my room and mind getting rid of those dolls. Sure I still loved them, but they were holding my back and keeping me trapped in those "Good old days." I got a little teary eyed writing this and I might have to go cry somewhere once I hit "Publish", but they're tears of happiness at finally being able to pick myself up and move on. Thank you Emily, your reviews and wonderful personality have helped me more than you'll ever know. I had a great time reading this blog and getting to know you.
ReplyDeleteDearest Emma, I remember you with such fondness and I'm incredibly moved and grateful that you would take the time to write this note. The things you said resonate with me so powerfully--even though I'm in a different stage of life. Now, as I sort through my beloved doll collection and the remnants of my reviewing days, getting ready to sell or give away most of those memories, I feel an almost overwhelming sadness. I loved writing this blog, I loved the dolls I got to "meet" here, and I loved the community. It shaped almost a decade of my life. But letting the past go is also giving me new levity and freedom. What will come next? I want to leap into the next phase of my life unburdened and unbothered with consumerism.
DeleteI'm happy that you are able to see your past with so much love while also freeing yourself to move forward. Graceful transitions are really hard, and you seem to be wise beyond your years in that respect. However--don't ever let anyone tell you that you're too old for dolls. Hang on to that one favorite W.I.T.C.H. doll, or a sacred shelf somewhere that displays a little piece of your childhood. The dolls that we collect reveal something very interesting (and sometimes deeply personal) about us, and that is worth hanging on to--and worth sharing with the people we love.
I'm certainly not crying right now. No way. It's allergies.
I couldn't help lurking over this thread, and I have to say, I really, really admire your ability to give away/sell your collection. I don't know what I would do if I suddenly had to pack up and switch states, but if I also had to get rid of 90% of my doll collection, wow, that would seriously suck. I mean, I'd obviously keep that one special first doll (in my case, a Pleasant Company Felicity I got in second grade), but having to part with the rest? and I don't even collect expensive dolls like your Tonners and their ilk. I hope you make a profit on the collector dolls, at least, to dull the pain of parting.
DeleteAlso, can I just say, I found your blog because of your mini doll reviews (Collector's Lane, AG, etc.) and commented under many variations on Lurker (because, y'know, no account), but this is the only blog I've read start-to-finish besides the (also now defunct) Regretsy and Reading With Vampires. Your reviews were so good that I felt like I was living vicariously through you! It was a way to "open" new toys, and I would check every day for new posts. That's why I was so happy you started the My Twinn Project! You're a rare beast on the internet these days: someone who writes well, who is interesting, who is nice. I honestly can't think of any other blogs like yours. I came late to the game, but I'm so glad that you've kept everything up (Doll Diaries and other, lesser blogs have gone the way of the dodo) so that people can continue to discover your work and the toys they might have missed out on. It's really neat.
I can't think of anything tear-jerky to add, so, uh, go watch Toy Story 3? HA HA HA HA >_<
You are a sweetheart, lurkins, and I consider you a friend. I love seeing your comments pop up here and over on the Project Shop.
DeleteThe funny thing (or not-so-funny-thing-if-you're-my-husband) is that I'm getting rid of SO many dolls, but I'll still have way more than any rational person after I move. It's the only thing I ever buy as a luxury for myself (well, that and small dogs) but still. It's insane. So don't feel sorry for me. :)
Something tear-jerky to ADD? Are you kidding me? The second paragraph of your message has me pathetically weepy. I've always enjoyed just doing my thing on the internet and seeing who might come along for the ride. It's a cool way to find neat people. The internet has spawned a lot of evil in its time, but one thing that is truly wonderful is that folks with quirky hobbies and personalities can find one another.
Anyway, as I said above, message me through Etsy. I'll find an 18" item for you. And I'm not watching Toy Story 3...not right now, anyway. ;)
Oh no I didn't notice my comment was marked as Unknown, I'm Emma. :)
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your move. I hope you will find comfort and joy in your new home.
ReplyDeleteYou mentioned moving some dolls to ebay. Can you post a link to your store?
Hi Dorothy, thank you! I am very anxious to find out what my new home will be! :)
DeleteI don't have an eBay store, just listings, and nothing is listed right now--stuff sold super-fast.
See if this link works: https://www.ebay.com/sch/toyboxphilosopher/m.html
Also, here's a listing that closed, so you could follow my name link there, too:

Hi! I am not a doll collector but I just saw American Girl came up with a doll for your doll and all I could think was, "What would Emily say?"
ReplyDeleteI read your new page and still check in with your old page. I admire your work as a painter and craftsman and your photos are amazing. Good luck in all you do.
